James,
i wrote a missive after today’s Masters WOD describing my new evolution. Feel free to review my thoughts. To the bottom line, I am finding that the principles of Sealfit (physical, mental, emotional , intuitional, and spiritual) all have a place in my life. Physical is the first step, and has been the hardest for me. Learning to stay…[Read more]

Mental Toughness – Get Unbeatable! 3 years, 10 months ago
Here is my ‘deal’…….Ii am rethinking my approach to Sealfit, specifically the WODs.
I went through the Boot Camp fairly well, entered the onramp portion of the WODs and then tried the Masters. Most of the experience has been good, but I definitely feel I have flatten out in strength and fitness, in general. I am not expecting miracles,…[Read more]

I am never confident that any of these missives ever get to where the Sealfit folks say they do: Coaches etc. But here it goes.
This is a vindication for the Big 4 in action…About 2 weeks ago i was thrust into a very aggravating situation involving trespass onto my property with significant damage. No warning, no opportunity to ‘digest ‘…[Read more]

If my 2 cents amount to anything, I am a big disciple of the Cmdr. and his emphasis on the box breathing/visualization/verbalization/micro goals. I would like to say that I am on top of all the crazy events in my life and that would not be true.
I think the most important effort to expend is the ‘box breathing’ as this is where the calmness…[Read more]

What is your Power Mantra? 4 years ago
ok, here it goes…….this may surprise many but it works for me because I believe………..
“I got this, easy day (from the Cmdr.) I AM THE SMARTEST/TOUGHEST PERSON I KNOW…..I CAN DO THIS…!!!!!!!
OK, that is my daily mantra. I have to believe/respect in myself before I can lead the group. There is no arrogance in my mantra, I work 24/7…[Read more] -

Starting to learn enough Kokoro yoga to incorporate the moves with functional exercises. Finding this approach allows for more focus and reps the functional movements within more integrity. Ay thoughts out there.
Also, would not mind forming a workout boat crew, on line is fine with me, for the onramp program. Any thoughts..

Today, March 31, was somewhat tough to get going with the Holiday upon this family. i was deciding between the Friday onramp I missed and something else.
I decided to go back to the Boot camp module, specifically Honor. Honor was a tough one for me about a year ago. Pushups did not exist, weight was about 10#…oh well. I decided to go…[Read more]

Sergio,
I do a lot of functional PT with only body weight due to age.
I am an “onramp” member of the boat crew, so I find this level of exercise very challenging, and no one, and I mean no one, does anything like these evolutions at my gym. Yikes…..Most folks who give me any ‘eye’ at all have a look of amazement on their faces as i do the…[Read more]

Anthony,
Thank you for the follow up. Laying off is probably a better idea with moving into a different muscle group for a wihile. What I am finding is the WODs with barbell overhead work are not a good idea. I plan to stick to the lighter dumbbells and focus more on the Grinder events,
Thank you

A note to Coach Melanie: We are actively involved with our church and many of the meals are prepared with canola oil. I fear this is not where we need to be….any suggestions on changing the program..

with shin splints I would lay off the running, consider active stretching of the legs (yoga), avoid jumping (easy does it burpees may be OK)…might want to send your question off the the Coaches for their input…

Both shoulders are taking abating with prolonged soreness, though no limitation of motion. Question I am asking myself: lay off the shoulder for a while, or try to keep up th work with substitutions that use more of the core muscles as opposed to strictly shoulder muscles…Any thoughts
-
I have successfully managed injuries in the past by using a combination of scaling the exercise by weight, reps, or ‘substitute activity’ – this includes sucking it up and realising rest and recovery (& mobility work) are more important that pushing through and potentially doing more damage (further delaying progress). Of course, always listen to…[Read more]

Just a ‘heads up’ to the digitalBoat Crew. I have found the Cmdr.’s PT Grinder to be a great starting pint for those of us who have yet to figure out effective grinder evolutions. Just passing it along. Subsequent to starting this type of grinder, I have been able to make several additions to my routines. Great program.

Coach Melanie,
Thank you for your feed back. I will move back to the Unbeatable Mind Program for more insight. Ironically, the personnel in question have been tutors and mentored in SMARTP in the Navy….Go figure!!
I will see moving forward where the Forces allow
Hooooyal
Thank you,

At this early hours, I would normally be turning into the Kokoro yoga program, perhaps on of the movement portions of the program. This would be part of my morning ritual. However, a new problem seems to be emerging and I would be interested in how the Boat Crew is, or would handle, this issue.
In a quick sentence, I am confronted and…[Read more]
